I am thrilled to be invited to the CG Anime Cup in Kyoto, Japan. The organizers of KYOTO CROSS MEDIA CONFERENCE have chosen 5 films from the e-magiciens Best of 2008 (France), including «Copy City» to take part in a friendly competition as part of the CG Anime Contest 09. KYOTO CMEX is a wide-ranging event with various manga, anime, film and game related events held as part of KYOTO CMEX. The conference takes place from 26th of September to 4th of October 09.

«Copy City» has been selected for the competition program at the 14th Ourense International Film Festival in Spain and it will also screen at Anim’Est Bucharest in a British Council special programme in October. Furthermore, «Copy City» screened in the program "British Panorama" at the London International Animation Festival on Saturday 6th of September 09. Last but not least, Breaking Ground, the platform for European Student Films is taking care of the programme for two small festivals based in The Netherlands called In Vervoering (festival on literature and art) and AXIS Festival. «Copy City» will be screening there in September 09.

During the next 1 1/2 months I'll be traveling around Europe. In February, I submitted a proposal for a new animated short film for which I got funding in April. In the coming weeks, I'll be doing research and develop the project further. I'm planning to complete the short film in October 09.

For the last two months I've been busy with a commercial animation project that I just completed. Finally, I got some time to update what happened apart from work. «Copy City» will be screening in the 17th International Animation Festival of Brazil, ANIMA MUNDI 2009, in the Animação em Curso/Animation, of Course program. The festival will take place in Rio de Janeiro, from July 10th to 19th , and in Sao Paulo, from July 22nd to 26th. From 22nd to 28th of June, «Copy City» is also in the competition programme at the Melbourne International Animation Festival in Australia 2009 (MIAF). The films will also tour round other cities in Australia and possibly New Zealand. On 28th of May, «Copy City» was screened at ANIMAYO festival in Spain. Also in May, «Copy City» was projected in an exhibition space in Leeds, UK as part of the launch of a project that YCN did for "Nation of Shopkeepers". It has also been featured on the Nation of Shopkeepers website. From 22nd to 29th of April, «Copy City» also screened at the Riverrun International Film Festival USA.

«Copy City» is in for the 2009 Monkey King Awards at CICAF (China International Cartoon & Animation Festival)! The festival takes place from April 28 to May 3rd in Hangzhou, a supposedly very beautiful place.

The organizers of CG Anime Cup in Kyoto have chosen 5 films from the e-magiciens Best of 2008, including «Copy City». The organizers are trying to raise money to invite the directors of these 5 films to the Kyoto Festival this September. Let's hope we can go to Japan!!! Watch some funny stuff HERE and HERE.

I have received funding from Midtnorsk Filmfond in Norway for a new short film project.
In February I applied for funding with script and treatment and with the support of producers HELMET. The film is going to be a multi media project consisting of models and stop motion animation mixed with life action and cut-out animation. The animated short will be centered around arguments. Production will start in May and I aim to finish the film in September.

I have won the Synchro Film & Video Material Prize worth 1.500 Euro at the Tricky Women 2009 Festival in Vienna! The award ceremony will take place tonight at 8pm in Vienna.

I have started working on a new project; motion visuals for the fashion label FREUDIAN KICKS in Oslo. The visuals are going to be used for the upcoming fashion show in May as well as for a teaser on the website. The "Freudian Kicks Summer 09" collection is designed by Charlotte Fische and Linn Sannes Brevik. Sound Design for the animation as well as music at the party will be made by Tom Einar Dragebo. As Freudian Kicks is experimental, edgy and not average I'll have a lot of experimental animation joys whilst producing this piece!!!

The british council has offered me a travel grant to Vienna following the selection of 'Copy City' in the competition program in Tricky Women Festival in Vienna, Austria. Copy City is to be screened between 5. - 9. March 09. Accommodation is offered by the festival! I'm looking forward to it!

I was invited to Tallinn to present my animation work on the 26th of January. The event is called Animatheque and is taking place once a month in the Estonian modern and contemporary art museum KUMU. Animatheque is organised by Animated Dreams Festival and Estonian Academy of Arts together with KUMU to introduce foreign artistic animation to an Estonian audience. Additionally, I gave a little informal talk to the animation students in the Estonian Academy of Arts. Animatheque always has one guest per time. This year they will have animation directors like Run Wrake, Virgil Widrich, Chris Shepherd and Milos Tomic presenting their works.

Completion of two 15sec commercials to promote “I Love Salg” at the shopping mall Trondheim Torg, Norway. I developed the Concept, directed and animated the burping, farting and flying paper shopping bags. Sound by Fred Zachariassen.
